Charitable Bequest - Douty

Charitable Bequest - Douty
The Nate and Lynne Douty Scholarship

Nate Douty is a 1978 graduate of Shippensburg State College. He returned to his alma mater to earn an MS in organizational development and leadership in 2013. Nate is a veteran in the human resources profession and served as vice president of human resources for Hershey Entertainment & Resorts for fourteen years. He currently is an independent contractor and consultant in human resources and leadership. After graduating in 1980 from Central Penn College, Lynne Douty has enjoyed a successful career in the dental field.

Both Nate and Lynne are passionate about Shippensburg University. For their commitment to the current campaign, the Doutys established a scholarship through the SU Foundation that will benefit needs-based students majoring in any degree program in the College of Arts and Sciences. Eligible students must have sixty credits completed or have transferred from Harrisburg Area Community College with sixty credits. "As I was the first in my family to earn a degree, we would like this scholarship to be awarded to a first generation student, if possible," Nate said. "I would like these students to enjoy the same opportunities I had as a student."

In addition to their scholarship, Nate and Lynne also made a significant provision in their will to the SU Foundation's unrestricted fund. "We chose the unrestricted endowment because we know it gives the university the flexibility to fund new initiatives, respond to unique challenges, and provide support in areas vital to fulfilling its vision," Nate said.
