Charitable Gift Annuity

Charitable Gift Annuity
The late Robert "Tiny" Adams, Shippensburg University football's legend from the 1950's Rambo Raiders glory days, gave his all for Coach Vinton "Vint" Rambo. He stood at an impressive six foot, two inches, was a humble, gentle giant, who lived by the motto, "There is no 'I' in TEAM."

Proving he lived by that motto, he modestly said, "I always try to remember that the honors and awards that I enjoyed while at Ship were not earned by one individual. If our team had not amassed the record we hold, I would not have been noticed."

To say he deserved praise 58 years ago would be an understatement. One would be remiss not to note that from 1950 through 1954, Adams sent shivers down the spines of the opposing teams. Blasting open holes in his opponents' defensive lines for Shippensburg's runners, blasting shut holes in opponents' offensive lines to stop their runners, and sacking quarterbacks, Adams led his teams to a winning streak of twenty games, a record that still stands after more than half a century.

Giving 110 percent wasn't just a cliché to Adams. He gave back 110 percent in blood, sweat, and tears on the field. Even late in life Adams gave back 110 percent through his gifts to the Shippensburg University Foundation.

Before his recent passing, Adams established a Charitable Gift Annuity that will fund the Robert and Lauretta Adams Football Endowment. "I've been fortunate to have had people in my past who have inspired me and assisted me in my endeavors as a student and athlete at Shippensburg and later in my professional career," he once said, still crediting others. His generosity continues inspiring and assisting others through his philanthropic support of the Shippensburg University's football program through the SU Foundation.
